Better Together Conference, 2019

Bisexuals are here, and we’re queer.

Our story

Sydney Bi+ Network started in 2018, as a direct response to a lack of current bi+ focused advocacy across the so-called Sydney area. We’ve grown from the legacies of bi+ movements and organisations, like Sydney Bisexual Network and Bi-NSW, who came before us.

We’re a volunteer-run grassroots organisation dedicated to improving the wellbeing of bi+ people through community building, education, and advocacy. Together, we work to build a world where bi+ people can live safe and joyful lives. This means that dismantling systems of oppression, in all forms, is core to what we do. It also means we’re powered by working collectively to create change – by bi+ people, for bi+ people.

While our activities are primarily based across Gadigal, Wangal, Cammeraygal, Bidjigal, Dharug, and Dharawal lands, bi+ folks across the so-called NSW engage with our activities, ideas, and actions.

What does bi+ mean?

We use bi+ as an umbrella term to describe people who are attracted to more than one gender, in any way, to any degree. Bi+ can include (but is not limited to) bisexual, pansexual, omnisexual, polysexual, biromantic, panromantic, queer, fluid, gay, lesbian, questioning, and more. We welcome people who use more than one label to describe themselves, people who use no labels, and people who use other languages or terminology to describe themselves. We also recognise that bi+ folks and the people who love them can experience unique barriers to inclusion and invite bi+ allies, partners, friends, family (biological or logical) members and loved ones as part of our community.
